Platycerium bifurcatum

Common Name: Staghorn Fern

This has become an earmark fern for so many positive reasons. Growing as an epiphytic plant on trees staghorns are equipped for life without soil, making them really wonderful candidates for plaque mounting (but they also remain wonderful houseguests in pots). Only becoming more beautiful with age, it's not hard to see why this plant is a staple in so many collections! Native to Java, New Guinea and southeastern Australia.
